Army Aisle Jaffers:- I was amazed to hear that this insipid remake of 'Karate Kid' has Will Smith's sprog being taught Kung Fu. WTF ! Oh Hollywood; you really are a lazy lot. This gets my Uppercut to the Goolies'award.
My 2 armed hug this week goes to one you may have missed.
Clint Eastwood is brilliant in 'Gran Torino' You can pick up the video or scan Foxtel for a listing.
If you want to see how 2 cultures can clash and still work together give Jacky a big eject button and watch a real man.
Certainly one for the blokes, but enough teary moments of mush to keep 'Her in doors' attentive.
The lead charactor is my knew role model.
He is the nasty, unlikeable old bugger I hope to become one day.
Just a quick reminder if you haven't already seen it; get three big bags of popcorn and settle in for the brilliant 'Slum Dog Millionaire' now running on Foxtel.

Army:- Before I say anything else, I know better than anyone how family must come first, and i know several people had quite valid reasons reasons for being absent last night.
And to those who did attend, thankyou for your wholehearted participation in making the night great fun.
It is not my job as a coach to admonish those who just couldn't make the effort to turn up.
I feel though someone needs to inform those who are not aware, what goes into a social night like last night.
Over several weeks leading up to the night,SB and his assistants give an enourmous amount of their own time to plan and gather everything needed.
On the night itself SB, alone, prepared a meal to feed fifty, organized a light and sound show of professional standard, served the meal, ran a raffle of fantastic prizes and although feeling very let down by the attendance, played the smiling host to all who came.

Army:- We run 2 functions to raise funds(outside of awards nights) all year. The committee work their #@*%!s off to provide a best possible enviroment to play and socialize. To keep the price of rego fees, uniforms and drinks to a bare minimum.
If you sat at home last night and watched the telly, just coz you couldn't be bothered to get your slothernly #@*%! into gear. Shame.
When fees go up next year. You know who is responsible.
When your playing permit relies on you having to pay in advance for compulsory function tickets, (like the senior club do) you know who to blame.
You have one chance to redeem the situation. There is a $1,000 dollar raffle in a few weeks time.
I hope for those who were there last night and for the sake of the hard working committee, we have a bumper crowd attend.I for one will try to bring my family and at least one friend from outside the club.
Again, to those there last night; thankyou, I really enjoyed my night in your company.
As I said at the beginning, as a coach it is not my responsibility to worry about whether you attend functions or not. I won't drop or select on your attendance. So don't try and tell me at training why you weren't there. Or if you feel I am being unfair. I don't care. I am focused on getting us to play well and win.
If you feel so burdoned, I suggest you speak to SB, Matty and others on the committee.

Your friendly Guide.:- G'day SB
I'm not 100% , but I'm pretty sure Trinity Beach is a good 10-15 mins out of Cairns City centre. We're talking $25+ in cabfare to and fro.
Thursday, 3 June 2010 15:21 -

Franger Froistein Cabs:- When we were there it cost about 5 bucks each if you had 4 to a cab.
There is also a number of courtesy/shuttle mini buses running till late.
The larger resorts, like this one, have there own shuttles and airport pick up. It can be quite good to be just away from the hurly burly of the town centre, where the young backpackers proliferate. Keep an open mind.

Here's another story from the 'Zipper Club'.
Shared a unit with a mate in my single days. Some old blokes may remember Richard from his time at BHN as a trainer. He had a triple by pass and turned into a shagging machine. It was like living with a middle aged Alvin Purple.

Pythagoras:- Remember, you wanted to know.....
Sporting Pulse is a static website that you feed info (scores, results etc) into. The fixture is preloaded and the website does standard allocation of points for win or draw and the percentage, based on for over against multiplied by 100 over 1. It is a set based maths program that has no room for human tampering.
Post a Reply
here
Pythagoras:- The league website ladders are generated by some old guy with a calculator. In the case of ladders, pertaining to games other than Supers 1,2 and 3, they remove the points for a win or a draw. They base these ladders purely on the actual points scored for and against.
Therefore; any team from Div2 or a team that has had a bye, is likely to have a larger percentage than us as we have played 4 games. In theory,we could win 9 out of 9 games by under 2 goals each time. This would give us a percentage of roughly 140. Another team from Div2 may only play four games with 6 byes (remember I did say in theory). If they won 3 games by 2 goals each and won the last game by 100 points to nil, they would have a percentage greater than 150. The league says that the 2 top teams (by % only) will play off as curtain raisers on Semi Final weekend.
Which ladder is correct? Both.
The longer you continue any 2 equations the closer they come to having the same answer.
By seasons end, both ladders should have a similar look to one and the other.
Personally, I think treating grown men the same way you treat under 9 boys is rediculous. The Masters and over 47s should have the same right to compete for an ultimate prize the same as every other fool hardy hero putting it on the line for his team.
Herein endth the lesson.

Clavical:- Great, the one time I am in a team that is actually going somewhere can actually go nowhere. This must mean we are as good as the Melbourne storm and playing for nothing. At least the beer is cold.

Sharkbait:- Pythagoras - you are preaching to the cobverted. What you muts do is press for this change at Board level. They can be a bit old sticks in th mud and thsi has been on the agenda for over 6 yrs now with nothing done. They say they have created this 'Challenge Cup' thing with the 2 best sides from masters 1 and masters2/3 but it only token at best. Until they get fair dinkum and play masters for points, it will be good fun footy but with nothing tho show at the end of the season adnt o me, thats playing for not much at all.

Masters Player:- Best wishes to Mick and his Family !
Can someone tell me why on the sporting pulse ladder we are on top and on the MAFV website we are fourth?
Post a Reply
here
SB:- The sporting pulse ladder takes into consideration wins and losses, giving 4 points for a win etc. Unfortunately, the League has decided that Masters games are not for points and the ladder is based on percentage alone. So on the League ladder we are 4th despite having the most wins!!! GO FIGURE!
There is a moratorium on voting on Masters for points which I think is lifted next year. The clubs voted every year for ages and not for points won (by about 1 or 2 votes) every year. The league got sick of this constant battle and said that voting on this issue was not allowed, as I said, until (I think) next year. So not completely the League's issue. Win BIG is all I can suggest! Yes............I know
Wednesday, 19 May 2010 14:42 -
|
Nick S:- The big problem with the Sporting Pulse ladders is they don't take the many byes in the Masters 2/3 into account. So the only reason BHN Masters are on top is we have played and won one more game than anyone else in Div 3. As soon as we have a bye it will even out. So in its own way the Sporting Pulse Ladder is just flawed as the MAV one.
I agree with Clavical Gav this sucks! I'd like to see us go up the ladder when we win. I'd like the prospect of some kind of final and flag possibility. If there's only 2 teams out of all of 2 and 3 play off then it looks like we haven't really got a chance on %? SB can you ask them if it is only two for both Divisions or two each from Div 2 and Div 3 play in the challenge cup.

Army:- Dwayn, my mum had a triple bypass at the Alfred 18 months ago. She was back walking 5km and swimming most days in the bay within 3 months. And she was 74 at the time.
Wish his wife and family well for me. It can be fairly confronting and daunting when they first come from theatre and are in the ICU. But the staff are fantastic and keen to answer any questions. If he can keep up the rehab and exercises, Mick will be healthier than he could imagine, with few if any limitations on what he may want to do in the future. Feel free to pass on my phone number to his family. should they need to chat to someone who has gone through this with a loved one already.
With the diversity of cultural backgrounds at BHN, we can cover prayers for Mick to just about every God known to man.
